Bethany Baker grew up bouncing around Southeast Ohio’s fields, valleys and forests in search of adventure. The middle daughter in a family of avid readers and active goat farmers—she split her time exploring nature and transporting herself to other places and times through fantasy tales. Old logs became pirate ships. Goat pastures housed fairies and mystical creatures. Incidentally, it wasn’t until high school that Bethany realized most of the stories she devoured neglected to include other ethnicities. A member of a bi-racial family, Bethany decided to turn her love of fantasy and artistic talents towards including other races into fairytales, both fabled and new. This story interweaves race, ambition, family, and coming of age in a picturesque setting with genuine and unique characters.
